The Christmas rendition of our Club Night went extremely well.

With 45 swimmers taking part, we had some outstanding performances. The most noteworthy, certainly needing mention, were the two high drama races involving the Farrelly boys.

In Heat six of the Freestyle, the only stroke swum allowing time for festive activities, a superb effort was shown by both Nicholas Gannon and Blake Farrelly. The two boys had put in two full months of hard yakka in training and it showed in this race. Nicholas took the 4 points for his Green team and crackied the 37 second barrier for the first time. Blake was left wanting sitting just above 37. Lets watch in January when these two will certainly give it another crack.

Heat nine also provided some serious drama when Bazza Horrey and Ryan Farrelly fought it for 50 full metres and needed a referee’s decision to call the decision. Both boys finished with personal bests, cracking the 35 barrier for the first time each. Ryan took the first place points home for the Blue Team just touching out Bradley by 0.14 second. Lets watch for the rematch in January.

All had a good evening both in the pool and with the entertainment. Santa made an appearance, the waterslides were running, and the wine dive again worked a treat for kids of an older age.

Going into this event, The Green squad held a score advantage of 165 to Blue’s 158.

With only Freestyle being swum, Blue took their first night’s victory with a margin of 59 to 53. Blue’s main advantage was its noticeable difference in participation. More swimmers means more points. Come on Green, where are you??

January the 19th looks to be an interesting opportunity for both teams!
