What a day!! This was the event that
reminded us all that we really are OCEAN swimmers. Bondi 2 Bronte
provided us all with the experience that no matter how fast we are in the
pool, it still takes a lot to swim fast in rips and currents.
We as a group had 20 swimmers enter and 20 swimmers finish. With what
the Monday’s Telegraph said was over 200 people being rescued, this
represents an amazing accomplishment.
The two top stories of the day have to be the team’s top spot taker, Mick
Bransby. He shows that his comfort in the big and lumpy really pays
off in events like these. Also, a huge swim from Phil Fisher, coming
in before some of the ‘Lane 1ers.’
Personal bests went out to Amanda Murray and Michael Hickson for longest
ocean swims to date. Well done, guys.
It was also good to see some inter squad rivalries continue; especially
between Phil & Brad, and Richard & David.
It was a test just to make it to the shore
on the day. Good job to everyone for tackling that ‘bronte
express’ on the way in.
