This event could not have been better.  Our club was represented by 25 individuals, sharing in the 1km and 2.4km events in the annual ocean swim at Coogee Beach.

The early season hard work sure did pay off with unbelievable results across the whole group.  There is no question that all of us are far ahead of the condition we were in one year ago at this point.

The event, which was very well run by the guys and girls from the Coogee Surf Lifesaving Club, offered two swims, allowing everyone to push their limits on the day.  The first event was a triangle course inside Wedding Cake Island; and the second event, a much anticipated journey out and around the Island.

Six swimmers participated in the first event: Amanda Murray, Michael Hickson, Peter Wellington, Elisabeth Mealey, Clare Payne, and Chad Schneider all took part.  What a response we had at the awards podium.

Our 1km team of Amanda, Clare, Peter, and Chad took out first place
earning the club $250 toward our 'barbeque fund'.

Individual Honours also went out to Mealey, with a second place finish.

Amanda also earning silver

Two more second place finishes in respective age groups from Clare and Chad.

The day began with an amazing energy among all swimmers. The anticipation then went toward the swim around the island that so many of us looked forward to.

The 2.4km swim also saw Sea’s the Limit to the award dais.  Another team placing with a second place finish for the team was  Kirstin Farr, Donna Williams, Majella O’Brien and Louise O’Brien.

Taking home not only a third place finish in his first ever ocean competition, but also the bragging rights for fastest club finisher (not by much, however) was Joshua Scott.

Kirstin Farr also brought home a prize -- finishing third individually in her age group.

Well done to all involved; and thank you to everybody who showed up on the day to provide support and make the day such a success.
