1.9km Swim - 90km Bike - 21.1km Run
We had two squad training members take part in the Half Ironman event held in Forster, NSW.
This race doubled as a qualifying
event for the Full Ironman distance to be held next year.
David Hunter, a dedicated morning squad participant turned in an incredible 8 minute
personal best with a
4 hour 56 min 40 sec result. With a 1 min 35 sec
drop in the swim leg, all the gear training must have paid off. Here are David's Splits:
-
Swim - 33 min 05 sec
-
Bike - 2 hr 51 min
-
Run - 1 hr 33 min
Paul McClarnon, who trains with the lunchtime group also endured the
grueling multi discipline event. Here are Paul's splits:
-
Swim - 38 min 10 sec
-
Bike - 2 hr 36 min
-
Run - 1 hr 36 min
His splits gave him a personal best overall time of
4 hour 50 min 21 sec, also making up time in his
swim leg.
Both ended up qualifying for double the distance to be run next year.
How these two could spend so much physical effort with shoes on baffles me
personally; but we're still working on getting them
to ditch the bikes and the running shorts.
Super job guys, two limits seized!! Keep up the good work.
