The local swim really proved a
stunner. With a wonderful family atmosphere, under beautiful blue skies
(and a slight wind) Malabar Beach acted as the stage for many memorable
performances. Our club was represented in each of the day's six
events. With a majority of swimmers being first timers, the excitement
(and the tension) could certainly be felt on the beach.
|
The
races began with the 'kiddies'. Age groups were decided as: 8 & Under,
10 & Under, 12 & Under, and 14 & under. A quick scribble on
the birth certificate saw Beverly in an age category not seen in awhile.
|
Morgan
stayed true to the course and powered home for a third place finish. I
think the 'being on dry land' part felt better even than the 'you won $10' part.
Way to go Morgan!!!

Ben
kept the ball rolling with his first-ever ocean swim.
The sprinter and the endurance man

Next,
Josh and Lani took 12's. Josh's second race of the day brought home
another cool $20; unfortunately, taking him to a new tax bracket on the year.

Not a fan of the 'chop'

The
2k crew then started to get ready. Brett, Andrew, Donna, John, Josh, Chad,
Mick and Tim all took to the water for the day's main event. Well done to
first timers, Tim, Josh and Andrew.

All in all,
the day was an amazing success. Thank you to all involved for letting me
share it with you!
