Chad, Scott, Clare, Josh, Marg, Phil, Amanda, Chris, Geoff, Richard all made the journey up to Warriewood Beach to register for this year’s rendition of the Mona Vale Mighty Marathon.
Now, I can understand if you find the name of the event a bit dubious, however that is the only part of the day that fault can be found. It certainly doesn’t live up to FINA’s definition of a ‘marathon’ swim; however it provided a true challenge for the near 700 participants.
The ‘man of the match’ undoubtedly went to the SEVEN year old boy who took home not only the honour as the youngest swimmer but also the top spot prize of a snazzy watch. I was certainly inspired by his achievement.
Our group had a great turnout and tuned in some equally great performances. The club’s ‘big wiener’ was Joshua Scott taking home gold in the under 15 age group, and doubling up with a dinner for two spot prize.

Margie McDonald continued to impress after an enormous week of work with the Adidas Tennis International consuming most of her energy. Margie, while en route to her humble desk, was awarded a silver medal (by just 3 seconds) in her age group. “One of these things is not like the other!” Nice hair Josh!

It was a choppy run coming in from the last turning can, and it showed in our times that the extra work in the pool, and morning sea swims, have been paying off. Excellent work to all who took part.
